BUFFALO, N.Y., May 12, 2010 – Catholic Charities is looking for adult volunteers to assist with sorting, stocking and preparing food for distribution at its four food pantries in Buffalo and Lackawanna.
Hours and days vary by pantry location but volunteers can choose to help as little as four hours each week. Specifically, volunteers are needed to perform the following tasks: sort and arrange food, stock shelves and package food items for client distribution, and assist with deliveries (carrying boxes of food from vehicle into building). Some tasks require the ability to lift 15 pounds or more..

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The 2010 Appeal in support of Catholic Charities has just under $1 million to go to achieve its $10.5 million goal, officials announced today. A total of $9,540,910.51 in cash and pledges has been received since Palm Sunday (March 28), bringing the total to 90.9 percent of the goal. read more...

BUFFALO, NY – Most Rev. Edward U. Kmiec, Bishop of Buffalo, has appointed Sister Mary McCarrick, OSF, the eighth Diocesan Director of Catholic Charities of Buffalo. The first woman religious to serve in the role of diocesan director since the organization began in 1923, Sister Mary was appointed on an interim basis in December 2009 and began serving in mid-January. read more...
