Meet Wilson, Foster Grandparent
Wilson is a participant in the Catholic Charities Foster Grandparent Program. He is one of 90 participants in the program that protects older adults from isolation and need, as they are connected with children who blossom with the individual attention they have the time, talent and compassion to give. Foster Grandparents receive a stipend, enabling lower-income seniors to stretch their budgets.
The intergenerational relationship benefits both the older adult and the child, and older adults gain a special reward in giving back and mentoring the next generation. Schools get needed extra help for their students.
"Grandpa" Wilson is treasured by the special needs students he works with at Buffalo Public School #84. An artist himself, "Grandpa" has created an art gallery in the school for students and faculty. Hear more from Wilson and watch him work with these great students.
