Catholic Charities of Buffalo invites parents, families and individuals residing in Erie County who are interested in learning more about becoming a foster parent to attend an introductory information session on Sept. 12 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. or 6 to 7 p.m. at 525 Washington St., Buffalo.
Catholic Charities provides foster care services to children of all ages, racial and ethnic groups who cannot live safely in their own homes or need to be placed in the permanent care of a loving family. The children under foster care may have special physical, emotional or psychological needs, and may include siblings who should be placed together. There is currently a specific need for homes to foster sibling groups.
Financial support, a clothing allowance and medical coverage are provided to foster families.
“Foster care provides children with a safe place to call home when their own family is unable to do so,” said Kelly Gorkiewicz, coordinator of Children’s Services at Catholic Charities. “Children and families in your own community are in need of support that you can help to provide. Come to an informational meeting to find out more about foster care and adoption, and the children who need your help.”
Additional upcoming information sessions include: Tuesday, Oct. 10 and Tuesday, Dec. 12 from 11:30 a.m. or 4 to 5 p.m., and Tuesday, Nov. 14 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. or 6 to 7 p.m.
For more information or to register for a session, call 856-4494 or visit our website, www.ccwny.org.
