Catholic Charities of Buffalo mourns the passing of James V. Glynn, a visionary leader whose generosity and love for Western New York and Niagara Falls left an enduring mark on our community. From his first job at age 16 with the Maid of the Mist—helping to finance his education at Niagara University—to purchasing and stewarding the iconic attraction in 1971, Jim Glynn turned a lifelong passion into a world-renowned experience that welcomes millions each year to witness the majesty of Niagara Falls. As his business success grew, so did his commitment to serving others. Jim, together with his wife Mary, provided extraordinary leadership and philanthropic support to educational, cultural, and health care institutions across our region, including the Roman Catholic Diocese of Buffalo, Christ the King Seminary, Catholic Charities, Artpark, St. Vincent Manor, and many more. We especially grateful for his leadership as Appeal Chair in 1997 as well as his enduring compassion, vision, and unwavering dedication to the common good. His legacy of service will continue to inspire hope and uplift lives throughout Western New York and Niagara Falls. Our prayers and deepest sympathies go out to the Glynn family.
