Catholic Charities Ranked as Four-Star Charity by Nonprofit Evaluator Charity Navigator

Charities of Buffalo has attained a four out of four stars rating from Charity Navigator, a nation-wide nonprofit charity evaluator, indicating sound financial oversight and commitment to accountability and transparency.

Charity Navigator, found at charitynavigator.org, highlights the effort of efficient and open charities and works to provide donors with essential information needed to give them greater confidence in their charitable choices.

“We are proud to announce Catholic Charities of Buffalo has earned our third consecutive 4-star rating. This is our highest possible rating and indicates that your organization adheres to sector best practices and executes its mission in a financially efficient way,” said Michael Thatcher, president and chief executive officer of Charity Navigator. “Only 17 percent of the charities we evaluate have received at least three consecutive 4-star evaluations, indicating that Catholic Charites of Buffalo outperforms most other charities in America. This exceptional designation from Charity Navigator sets Catholic Charities of Buffalo apart from its peers and demonstrates to the public its trustworthiness.”

“At a time when credibility and trustworthiness are of the utmost importance, we are proud to once again have the four-star designation from Charity Navigator and ensure to all that Catholic Charities continues to be a good steward of charitable donations,” said Sister Mary McCarrick, Catholic Charities diocesan director.

The rating also comes as Catholic Charities is set to mark its 95th year of service to the community this October, a significant accomplishment for the agency.

Walczyk, Catholic Charities chief executive officer. “We take pride in being a reliable, effective and welcoming support system to those in need, and our top rating from Charity Navigator means our funding partners and donors can take pride in our steadfast dedication to transparency and sound fiscal management.”
