Catholic Charities of Buffalo was a recent recipient of two grants from Food Shuttle of WNY, totaling nearly $2,000. The monies will go toward food for holiday meal distributions through the agency’s Russell J. Salvatore Food Pantry & Outreach in Lackawanna, and toward winterizing an entranceway at the agency’s Lovejoy Food Pantry.
“We’re so grateful to Food Shuttle of WNY for their generous support of Catholic Charities and the work of our pantries,” said Julie Lulek, senior director of Nutritional Services, Catholic Charities. “The holiday meals at Thanksgiving and Christmas are a bright spot for so many in our community and gives them one less thing to worry about during a season that can be financially stressful, and the winterization efforts at Lovejoy ensure that our clients and staff continue to benefit from safe and welcoming spaces.”
Catholic Charities estimates it serves around 200 individuals and families at its Lackawanna pantry with Thanksgiving and Christmas meals.
Food Shuttle of WNY is a 100% volunteer organization that transports surplus food from local grocery
stores, restaurants, and bakeries, to soup kitchens, shelters, and food pantries.
