Catholic Charities Releases 2024 Report to the Community

By March 7, 2025News

Catholic Charities of Buffalo today announced the release of its 2024 Report to the Community, which highlights how the agency has been steadfast in its mission of serving those most in need and focused on a vision shaped by hope. The agency first shared the report with its more than 25,000 donors in its annual Appeal mail campaign.

“As we reflect on the good work being done and the more than 147,000 neighbors we were able to serve last year, we also are keeping an eye toward the future, navigating the shifting landscape within human services, seeking ways to be more efficient, and identifying ways to address some of the most pressing needs in our community,” said Deacon Steve Schumer, president and CEO, Catholic Charities. “In addition to focusing on ways we can better serve Western New York, we are also exploring new ways to enhance the professional development of our staff and look forward to its positive impact on the agency.”

This is the first year Catholic Charities produced a fully digital annual report to the community. The move was made to reduce costs and to deliver information in a manner that is more convenient and accessible.

A few of the major 2024 highlights include:

  • Catholic Charities served 147,470 people through its more than 50 programs offered across 50 locations. Programs included basic emergency assistance, behavioral health, nutritional services, school-based services, stability and connectedness, and workforce development.
  • Catholic Charities continued its mission to combat food insecurity with the openings of the new Lovejoy Food Pantry and Perry-St. Brigid Food Pantry locations to better serve individuals and families in need.
  • To bring stability, dignity, and a sense of community to vulnerable populations, Catholic Charities participated in transformative housing initiatives at Noles Court and Angela’s House, that provide affordable permanent living situations for older adults with chronic health issues and who have been experiencing homelessness.
  • As part of its commitment to developing strong, well-rounded leaders, Catholic Charities graduated the first cohort of its Leadership Development Program – a high-level training initiative for agency leaders to glean new skills and encourage personal and professional growth.
