Catholic Charities of Buffalo today announced a restructure of its finance department and new leadership appointments. Ryan Undercoffer has been named chief financial officer and Robert Hasselbeck will serve as controller for the human services agency.
“Adding additional leadership and expertise to our finance team is part of a broader strategic process designed to position Catholic Charities to meet the challenges of our day – just as we have for more than 100 years,” said Tony DeSimone, president and CEO of Catholic Charities. “Ryan is a well-respected and effective leader who brings a reputation for fiscal responsibility to his role as CFO and with his addition, Bob’s considerable experience and accounting acumen will continue to be critical resources for the agency as he takes on the controller position.”
With more than 10 years of leadership in housing, behavioral health, and community-based services, Undercoffer returns to Catholic Charities. In his previous role with Catholic Charities, Undercoffer served as a senior director where he oversaw programs that served more than 17,000 clients annually. He most recently served as executive director for Matt Urban Human Services since 2023 where he helped lead a financial turnaround and organizational stabilization of the agency. He also served as finance manager for the City of Niagara Falls from 2016 through 2019. A resident of Niagara Falls, Undercoffer has a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and political science from University at Buffalo and a master’s in applied economics from Buffalo State University.
With more than 30 years of experience in finance and accounting, Hasselbeck has been with the agency since 2018 when he joined as a senior accountant. Since then, he has steadily advanced to roles of increasing responsibility including his current role as controller.
