Events in Silver Creek May 3 and Sherman May 10
With four out of five car seats being used incorrectly, Catholic Charities Women, Infants and Children (WIC) nutrition program, in collaboration with Ardent Solutions Network for Community Health, will host free Child Passenger Safety Fitting Stations at its Chautauqua County sites in May, July and August. Safety checks scheduled for May are: Thursday, May 3 at 35 Park Place, Silver Creek; and Thursday, May 10 at 113 Church St., Sherman.
Whether you’re expecting your first child, or you already have a car full, correctly choosing and installing a child safety seat can be a challenge. The variety of seats, belt systems and vehicles available can make each situation different from the next. Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians will be on hand to check your installation and ensure your child is safe.
Families do not have to be enrolled in WIC to attend. The events are open to anyone who wants to have a child’s safety seat checked.
Appointments are encouraged for each site and can be made by calling Becky Nelson at Ardent Solutions, 585-593-5223.
Dates and sites for summer safety checks are:
- July 31, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., 326 Central Ave., Dunkirk
- Aug. 16, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., 58 S. Portage St., Westfield
- Aug. 22, noon to 4 p.m., 200 Harrison St., Jamestown
