Catholic Charities announced the recent appointment of Linda Chadderdon as the newest staff member of its Home Visitation Program serving Genesee County.
Chadderdon brings a wealth of experience working with both volunteers and home-based services. She has a degree in social work from Buffalo State College, has worked in a skilled nursing facility and with Family Services of Rochester, an enriched housing program for seniors. Most recently, Chadderdon has spent the past 11 years working for Starbridge, Inc., where she trained and empowered families to care for loved ones in their homes.
The Home Visitation Program provides weekly visits to homebound adults in Genesee County who are 60 years of age or older with a limited ability to get out of their homes. Goals of the visits are to bring a sense of social connectivity and friendship to both program members and volunteers.
“Linda’s blend of education and experience, along with her caring attitude, make her an asset to our program,” Sandra Neubauer, Home Visitation Program supervisor, said.
The program is made possible through a grant from the Muriel H. Marshall Fund for the Aging.
Volunteers make a weekly visit to the home of an older adult, stay connected with the client’s loved ones and help participate in hobbies and crafts. Volunteers often find a rich sense of fulfillment with the knowledge they are reaching out to someone in friendship.
Those who would like more information on the program or who would like to volunteer can call 585-343-0614, ext. 12.
In Genesee County, Catholic Charities also provides other services, including basic assistance, counseling for individuals, children and families, Domestic Violence Offenders program, Our Kids: Parent Education and Awareness program, and preventive services for children at risk of placement outside the home.
