“The anticipated and now formal announcement by the Diocese of Buffalo regarding its pursuit of reorganization through Chapter 11 provides Catholic Charities of Buffalo another opportunity to communicate that we are a separate nonprofit organization, a distinct entity from the Diocese. As such, we are not involved or included in the process.
“As a reminder to the community, donations and funds generously given to the 2020 Appeal, similar to the 2019 Appeal, are designated for their intended purpose, and donors have the ability to choose where their donation goes. These choices include a donation to both Catholic Charities and the Fund for the Faith; to Catholic Charities only; or, to the Fund for the Faith only.
“Regardless of one’s preference of their donation, the Diocese of Buffalo and Catholic Charities of Buffalo are inextricably linked through our shared values and beliefs, and always will be. The fact remains though that we are separate and distinct entities.
“I also want to express that all of us at Catholic Charities empathize with the victims and survivors of abuse, and some in fact seek support services through our various counseling programs. We will always be there for anyone who suffers from abuse and needs help because of our dedication to our mission and the generosity of our donors to our Annual Appeal.”
